22nd September, 2021: Department of Political Science in collaboration with Department of Tenyidie organised a Felicitation Programme for Merit Awards winners

The aforementioned departments organised a felicitation programme to honour the merit prize winners—Winner of Political Science Merit Award 2021: Highest scorer in Political Science, Kevimhietuo Mepfü-O & Winner of Alumni Association Merit Prize 2021: University topper in Tenyidie, Rajuseno Lhousa.


18th September, 2021: Inter-Departmental Online Webinar organised by Departments of Political Science, Functional English & Library on the theme “A Brief Analysis of US Foreign Policy Post 9/11 with Special Reference to Afghanistan”

Chaired by Chathavino Chielie, Assistant Professor, Department of Functional English, the aforementioned 3 departments organised a webinar on the theme “A Brief Analysis of US Foreign Policy Post 9/11 with Special Reference to Afghanistan”. The presenter was Lashili G Chishi, Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science, Kohima College.


4th May, 2021: Department of Political Science donated some Healthy Food to Goodwill Boys Hostel to aid during the scarcity of Covid-19 Pandemic lockdown

Since Covid-19 Pandemic lockdown announcement in Nagaland, the college hostels suffered from severe shortage of supplies. As such, Department of Political Science, using the Department Fund funded by its faculty, sponsored some supplies to the Goodwill Boys Hostel. The items were pork meat, Eggs, Chicken, Fruits like Watermelon, Apples, Oranges etc.


3rd December, 2020: Department of Political Science organised an online seminar themed “Building Back Better: Towards Disability-Inclusive, Accessible & Sustainable Post Covid-19 World” in commemoration of International Day of Persons with Disabilities

Chaired by Dr Ketoukhrieu, Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science, & moderated by Razou Luho, the resource persons for this online seminar were Diethono Nakhro, State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, GON & Ashe H Kiba, General Secretary of Nagaland State Disability Forum (NSDF) & Program Coordinator of the Office of State Commissioner for Persons of Disabilities. The seminar was highly enlightening, providing the teaching faculty a new perspective towards students who may be a PWD.


12th March, 2020, Department of Political Science Educational Trip to the Historic Khonoma Village with the 6th Semester Honours Students

Accompanied by 5 faculty members, the Political Science Honours students from 6th Semester visited the historic Khonoma village, Semoma Fort, monument of Gen Mowu Gwizantsu, the scenic terrace fields unique to North-East India etc


10th February, 2020, Department of Political Science Educational Trip to the Budget Session of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly with 6th Semester Honours Students

Accompanied by 6 faculty members, students from 6th Semester Political Science Honours with official visitor passes sat on the public gallery of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly & witnessed a live budget session with all the lively debates, procedural motions for bill passage etc.


24th January, 2020: Department of Political Science, Kohima College in collaboration with Department of Parliamentary Affairs, GON organised an Awareness Seminar themed “Constitution & Fundamental Duties”

Chaired by Zeneinuo Solo, Head of Department, Department of Political Science, Kohima College, the programme was intended to reaffirm the principles of the Indian Preamble. The keynote address was given by Nino Iralu, Secretary (Judicial) Law & Justice Department, followed by a speech by the resource person, TB Jamir, Senior Additional Advocate General, GHC, Kohima Bench. The special guest for this seminar was Neiba Kronu, Honourable Minister, Planning & Coordination, Land Revenue & Parliamentary Affairs.


17th August, 2019: Inter-Departmental Seminar organised by the Departments of Political Science, Tenyidie & EVS

Dr Ketoukhrieu, Assistant Professor from the Department of Political Science presented her paper on “The Imaginary Line: Interrogating India’s Foreign Policy on Indo—Myanmar border”. It was chaired by Zeneinuo Solo, Associate Professor, Head of the Department of Political Science & concluding remarks given by Lashili G Chishi, Assistant Professor, also from Department of Political Science, Kohima College


22nd June, 2019: Department of Political Science introduced a Merit Award for Students opting for the Political Science Honours Programme

The intention behind the instatement of a Merit Award by Department of Political Science was to motivate academic excellence amongst the students opting for the Honours Programme. The student criteria for this award are:

  • Minimum CGPA 6
  • Cleared all semesters without backlog
  • A citation & a cash award of Rs 5000/- to be sponsored by the Department of Political Science

There have been 2 recipients for this award so far:

  • Mesanuo Miachieo: 6.38 CGPA, 2019
  • Kevimmhituo Mepfuo: 6.27 CGPA, 2021

5th March, 2019: Department of Political Science Educational Trip to Nagaland Legislative Assembly with 6th Semester Honours Students

Accompanied by 6 faculty members of Political Science Department, the 6th Semester Political Science Honours students with official passes witnessed the contentious debates on the Citizenship Amendment Bill at the Nagaland Legislative Assembly Winter Session


9th February, 2019: Department of Political Science organised an exposure trip to Chida, Kohima district, Nagaland

Accompanied by 6 faculty members of the Department of Political Science, 59 students from the 6th Semester Political Science Honours Programme were taken for an exposure trip to Chida, which was followed by lunch cooked the professors for the students.
