9th August, 2022: Departments of Sociology & EVS jointly organised a college programme commemorating College Foundation Day & World Indigenous Day themed as “Fostering the Culture of Excellence”

The programme tried to fuse elements of tradition as well as modern continuity, beginning with an invocation by Pastor Seyievituo Suoho & a short down the memory lane by the HOD of the Department of Political Science, Ms Zeneinuo Solo. Various students from several departments displayed traditional performing arts from different tribes of Nagaland. It ended with a short speech of gratitude by Hyulo Tsela, General Secretary of KCSC, Kohima College.


28th August, 2021: Departments of Sociology & Commerce organised an Inter-Departmental webinar on a multidisciplinary theme

The webinar was chaired by Jimokali Z. Zhimomi, Asst Prof, Department of Sociology & a welcome note by Viserenuo Theunuo, Asst Prof, Department of Sociology. The panel had two paper presenters—Vekhosa Thingo, Department of Commerce paper on “Investing in Stocks: Basic Introduction on How to Trade & Invest in Stocks” & Seneli Apon Rengma, Department of Sociology’s paper titled “Collective Consciousness on Death & Bereavement, with special reference to the Rengma Nagas.” The vote of thanks was proposed by Ngiplon Rachel Chohwanglim, Asst Prof, Department of Commerce. The Recorders were Akono Phira & Nozosenuo Navita Puyo, both Asst Profs from the Department of Commerce.


7th December, 2020: Department of Sociology in collaboration with Research Cell, KCK organised a One Day National Webinar on the theme “Customary Laws & Equality: with reference to the North East India”

The programme was hosted by Research Cell, KCK & chaired by Dr Kekhrieseno Christina, HOD, Department of Sociology, KCK. Dr Walter Fernandes, Director & Founder of North Eastern Social Research Centre (NESRC) was the keynote speaker, with his paper on “Customary Laws & Land in the North East”. The other speakers were Dr Meenal Tula, Senior Research Associate, NESRC; Charles Mhonthung Ezung, HOD, Department of Sociology, St. Josephs University, Dimapur & Dr I Anungla Aier, Rtd. Director, Higher Education, Govt. of Nagaland.


16th September, 2020: HoD of Sociology Department, Dr. Kekhrieseno Christina, participated as Resource Person for the Online Awareness Program on National Education Policy 2020 organised by the Directorate of Higher Education, GoN

Dr Kekhrieseno Christina, HOD of the Department of Sociology, Kohima College participated in an Online Awareness Programme on National Education Policy organised by the Directorate of Higher Education, Government of Nagaland.


25th October, 2020: Department of Sociology organised an Inter-Departmental Seminar

Assistant Professor Viserenuo Theunuo, Department of Sociology, Kohima College, presented a paper titled “Folk Song with reference to the Angami Tribe”.


5th October 2018: The Department of Sociology participated at the College Food Fest as part of Cultural Day, organised by the Student Welfare Committee, Kohima College, Kohima

As such, the students of the department of Sociology organised a stall for snacks on this occasion.
