The Students Welfare Committee

With the Principal, as Ex-officio Chairman, and 9 other faculty members, the Students Welfare Committee, formulate and execute any policy or programme which aids in making the learning experience student-centric by adopting various activities in the College for the development of students in social, ethical and personal values linked with basic management skills for community participation.

Student Counseling Centre

Mentoring of students is practiced on a day to day basis with each member of the faculty acting as a mentor and counsellor and confidante to the students generally and also individually in a manner whereby the student’s interest is maintained even when providing correctives since judgments are unbiased and not personalized. Arrangements for mentoring are usually made during free periods on weekdays, on Saturdays, and even outside class hours, if necessary.

Coaching Centre

BA 6th Semester students who desire to enter into service are offered free coaching classes on all subjects by the faculty. The classes are conducted in the college premises particularly on Saturdays.

Women Centre

The Women Cell organises various women oriented programmes with the help of the teachers, such as Cooking and Etiquette classes, talks on health and women related issues etc.

Grievance Redressal Cell

Any kind of grievance pertaining to the student community is taken up by the Grievance Redressal Cell, which is made up of a committee consisting of all Head of Departments, Kohima College.

Career Guidance and Placement Cell

Career Guidance Cell also conducts programmes which include motivational talks and skill development workshops given by entrepreneurs and professionals highlighting the different avenues available for jobs, the nature of the various courses to be taken, the aptitude required and so on.

Research Monitoring Cell

The newly activated Research Monitoring Cell of the College has also begun a humble initiative to carry out research works in different departments. Seminars have been organized in the college partnering with History and Archeology department, Nagaland University, UGC (NERO) etc. and the Committee is also gearing itself to involve the teachers and students in more research and consultancy activities.

Skill Development Cell

This Cell has an objective to inculcate the value of dignity of labour in students and to create awareness on the importance of basic skills. In order to impart basic skills, knowledge & attitudes for self employment to students in their own village/ communities or nearby areas and to develop entrepreneurial skills for initiating micro-enterprises especially for the rural youth and community; training has been imparted by experts on basketry, knitting and other handicrafts to students and more projects are on the pipeleine.
